Children can use the Halloween Witch for display for a Halloween party, or as a toy in a game. The Halloween Witch is a great craft for play alongside the butterfly craft, in a tube roll castle… fit for the witch, who puts a spell onto a monster… who tries to enter the castle and turns the monster into a snake and then hid him in the treasure chest.
Learning at crafting
Every craft children make, learning can be introduced into a learning craft, without a child even knowing that they are even doing it. Children will use hand and eye coordination action, learn colours and be able to count objects that are used in every craft.
The crafty creators loved reading the book ‘Room on the broom’ which inspired us to make the Halloween craft.
The witch and her cat fly happily over forests, rivers and mountains on their broomstick until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand. Luckily, they are retrieved by a dog, a bird and a frog, who are all keen for a ride on the broom. It’s a case of the more, the merrier, but the broomstick isn’t used to such a heavy load and it’s not long before . . . SNAP! It breaks in two! And with a greedy dragon looking for a snack, the witch’s animal pals better think fast!
Material supplies needed
- 1 tube roll
- egg carton box (bottom part only)
- coloured sheets of paper (affiliate link)
- wiggly eyes (affiliate link)
- green paint (affiliate link)
- felt-tip pens (affiliate link)
- glue (affiliate link)
How to Make a Halloween Witch
First, of all, you will need to cut a section from the egg carton box for the witch to have her big nose. Cut out the egg carton section. And then you can wrap it around to make the nose. Bend the end of the nose.
Then, glue the nose onto the tube roll, wait for it to dry.
Paint the top half of the tube roll green and the bottom part purple.
Cut 2 small black circles for the witch hat.
On one of the circles, slightly cut halfway. Grab the split and pull in to make a triangular top. Glue onto the other black circle.
Glue or stick on her eyes and glue around the top edges for the hat to sit on.
Give the witch some lips.
Finishing the Halloween Witch
Measure with paper the bottom of the witches lips to the bottom of the tube roll. Mark out, cut and glue this onto the witch for her cloak.
Using orange paper, cut out a rectangle shape. Cut strands, but leaving a band length. Glue this around the bottom of the hat, and then cut the strands you don’t want sticking down. Make the strands fancy, by placing a pencil at the bottom, roll it up to make curly.
